Easy Homemade Meatballs

I pretty much love any kind of Italian food. And who doesn’t love a good meatball? These meatballs are easy to make and best of all, you can freeze them! They are great on top of spaghetti or as a quick snack. (my kids love these!) They are packed with flavor and would make any Italian mama proud!

HOMEMADE MEATBALLS

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup Italian seasoned dried bread crumbs

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

In a medium bowl combine all ingredients. Mix well. Try not to squeeze the mixture through your fingers, but just combine, as “squeezing” will give your meatball a tough texture.

To make evenly sized meatballs, turn mixture out on a cutting board and shape it into a rectangle. Pat down until it is perfectly shaped. Using a sharp knife, cut mixture into 24 squares. (or less if you like a bigger meatball) Roll each square into a ball. Place on an aluminum lined jelly roll pan.

Bake for 14-18 minutes.

  3. Making these now. I used ground turkey, fresh parmesan (only because I had a lot that needed to be used up), onion flakes and added some dried parsley just for color. I also doubled the recipe. I used a cookie scoop and then just rolled them into a ball. Second batch I realized I should have sprayed the foil with cooking spray (probably because I used ground turkey) I cooked mine for 8 minutes then turned over for another 7 minutes. I was able to make 53 meatballs. They were perfect. I’m freezing them for Christmas day to use in a different Pinterest recipe I found, Bourbon Meatballs. I would definitely make these again. Easy, taste great and no unnecessary ingredients like most store bought meatballs. Glad I pinned this!

  4. I JUST made these and drove my husband and boys bananas making them wait to taste them until I finished the sauce and pasta. They smell SO good!! PS, I fried them in a mix of half a tbsp of bacon grease and olive oil. I NEVER in a lifetime thought I’d be using bacon grease for anything, but then I married my husband and BAM! 8yrs later, I’m using bacon grease to FRY meatballs LOL

  5. Laying them out and then cutting into 24 squares….GENIUS! Trying to evenly shaped meatballs drives me crazy!! Thank you for this “life changing” idea.
